When planning your trip to the Greater Smoky Mountains region this year you can avoid unwanted traffic delays by using the State of Tennessee’s Dept. of Transportation Online Traffic Map! The map shows up to the minute delays caused by accidents, road construction and rock slides!
From their site here you can also see live traffic cams and read what’s on the states ‘message signs’. As of today, March 21st, 2012 they are reporting the rock slide on I – 40 will continue to have one lane closed through May 15th, 2012 while they continue to clear the rock slide and stabilize the mountain.
