As a life long Alaskan who has spent time in about every hotel/motel in the area I select the Valdez B&B over all the other places to stay in Valdez. I go back to 1952. Over the last decade or so I have had nothing but positive experiences with this B&B. The reason I am familiar with places to stay in Valdez is because it is one of two closest supply areas for me during the summer season which I spend in the Wrangell Mountains. In case you doubt my creditability, at least as far as connections with this enterprise go, I know nothing about the owners other than to have met the old boy who owns the joint on a number of my visits."

Homer Alaska is a thriving community of approximately 4,000 residents, most of whom came to this area for one reason: it is one  of the most beautiful places in the world.

Review - "I stayed here 1 night during the road lottery weekend. Most other places were more expensive, already booked or closed for the season. No problems with check in/out. The place is older with worn carpet in the hallway. Didn't like the choice of entrances either over a "boardwalk" through the lawn or some steep steps on the side, both some distance to haul things to/from if your room is on the far side. Difiently not wheelchair or handicap friendly. The room was clean and in good repair. The bed was great and I slept very well. There was a little fridge, microwave, coffee maker, clothes closet, desk, tv, phone. An ice machine in the laundry room was very convenient for filling the cooler. Ate one breakfast in the restaurant. Okay food, priced high but not bad considering the location. Service was slow with only one waitress and it was a very busy morning. There wasn't any problems with leaving a vehicle there during the day while we drove into the park. I'd probably pick this place again for next year, but I wish they had smoking rooms."

For being right off of the Parks highway also very quite. The continental breakfast was extensive with fresh fruit, oatmeal, and boiled eggs. All of the art on the walls were for sale, which made me feel like I got to shop, I loved that. Beautuiful and wonderful landscaping.”

Review - "This hotel is a very economical option in Rochester and is connected to the Mayo clinic by the underground walkway which is very convenient if you are going there. The room was very clean, especially the bathroom which is a stckler for me. There is also a small, empty refrigerator in the room which was left open and left a slight smell in the room. An ironing board and iron is not available in the room and there is no option for movies. Of course no room service but lots of restaurants close by. There is an interesting notice left on the bathroom sink that asks the guest to use the supplied "rag" for removing make-up or cleaning up dirty things rather than using the good linens (which are OK but postage stamp size.) Would recommend with caveats."

Not so at the Ramada, where daily fare included choices of Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, ham/sausage/bacon, hot/cold cereal, bagels/toast, fruits & juices. Rooms were clean and well serviced by staff, with little or no noise apparant through common walls. Some rooms overlook the inside pool, which can be a location advantage for familes, or a disadvantage if you choose to sleep in on weekend stays as poolside noise can be loud."

Review - "I stayed in this hotel 6 nights, while attending a conference nearby. My choice was based on the cost of the hotel, which is really cheap when compared with the other hotels. The only problem is the absence of breakfast. Other than that, it is totally ok. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are good. However, I was always out during the day, so I did not spend much time in the hotel. I just used it for sleeping and accessing the internet on my laptop at the end of the day."

Review - "We stayed in the "Chardonnay" suite at this B&B for a couple nights to visit wineries in town. The suite is one of two that are located in the lower floor of what appeared to be the proprietor's house. We are frequent travellers and have stayed at B&Bs in places like Napa/Sonoma and Bath and this suite was hands-down the best B&B suite that we've ever stayed in. Review - "This hotel was excellent value for the money. I only stayed for one night, but paid $103.00 for a gorgeous room with a beautiful view overlooking the river. The room was large with a king-sized bed, coffee maker, hair dryer, etc. It was immaculate. The Parktown has all the amenities one would expect at a much more expensive hotel."

Review - "This Historical Landmark is one of the cleanest establishments we have ever stayed in! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Inn is beautifully decorated with antiques and period themes. The home used to be a "a house of ill repute" and they have pictures of the previous Madam. Today they have many modern conviences but still hold onto the nostalgia such as the clawfoot tubs, period fabrics, old fashioned phones, etc... We stayed in the "Lipstick Suite." The refridgerator held complimentary sodas, waters, and there was coffee, tea, cream, etc... Nice little touches likes chocolates. There wasn't anything I didn't like about this Inn, it was perfect for us. They also had port wine & cheese in the late afternoon after arrival. There is no breakfast. They have a pub/food but is not open Sunday or Monday. The liquor store is not open on Sunday or Monday either but there are other establishments that serve."
