Pigeon Forge is located on route 441 between Gatlinburg and Sevierville, Tn. Widely known as the town associated with Dolly Parton childhood upbringing and it's mountain roots. First time visitors are often taken back a little by what they find. Many have commented that it is sort of like Florida, where the main road runs along through town and business after business, tourist trap and attraction alike line through faire. The "parkway" is what they call the main route that runs through Pigeon Forge is 6 lanes wide and has a number of traffic lights. This can make traveling from one end of town to another quite time consuming especially during peak season.
This highlights the importance of choosing an accommodation that is in a good cental location. A little time spent now figuring out what you would like to visit and see while on vacation can be very benifical in the selection of an area inwhich to stay! Or you may wish to just choose an area that is very central to all of the area's attractions and sights!
Our recommendation would most diffenantly be Wears Valley which located a very short drive up the mountain on route 321 (Wears Valley road). This is also the route you would take going to Townsend and Cades Cove.

Things To Do:

There are a great many shops in Pigeon Forge covering evey kind of possible desire! One of the best known and favorite shopping center is the Tanger Outlet Mall. This outlet mall is located south of traffic light 3 along route 441 and contains numberous shops, many are not your typical outlet mall shop, but unique and interesting.
Man made attractions line each side of the parkway offering every kind of entertainment known to man. Many of the shows and theaters are located on the south side of traffic light 3 (route 321)
Resturants literally cover the landscape in Pigeon Forge. You will undoubtably find any and every kind of restaurant you could possibly desire! It is a good choice to consult our Resturant Guide to find a top rated resturant before traveling to Pigeon Forge!
Pigeon Forge is also home to a great number of annual events! Once again, just check the "events calendar" on our site for the dates of your stay and see what is happening in town during the dates of your stay!
Pigeon Forge's number one attraction is of course Dollywood and Splash Mountain. Dollywood is located just north of traffic light number 3 (route 321 Wears Valley Road) and is easily found by looking for the signs! Dolly and her family have done a wonderful job bring to the public many of the things most important in the mountains. Faith, Song and Food are some of what you will find in Dollywood. To go along with that they have also added a water park and theme park complete with a huge number of water attractions and a number of rides including more than one roller coaster and even a steam engine train that travels more than 5 miles of track!
We would highly recommend anyone contact Dollywood directly before making the trip to find out the best of what they currently are offering!
